There's a small little battery pouch in the front pocket so the light can light up. The clausometer is functional too - you can spin the arrow to whatever level of cheer you want! The scene on the front is dimensional and the interior print is so cute. Almost every time I used this I got a compliment over the holidays, kids and adults alike!Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
