The battery-operated remote also allows you to move the train both forward and back. I am a bit disappointed as that was one of the reason I bought it. Otherwise it does look great, sounds are nice and build quality is great, Keep in mind it is more for children and not something you would be able to add to your already existing train set as the wheels are far bigger and wider.Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
