Proton packs have always packed a huge punch. When they are not being used to trap ghosts, they usually blow up whatever they make contact with. In hindsight, those kids in Afterlife probably shouldn't have access to all of this sophisticated machinery, no matter how smart they are. Then again, there was never be another teen fiction story if every kid did what they were supposed to do.
