Try a new recipe. Search through online recipe sites or cookbooks. Try an international recipe, something your grandmother made, a vegetarian dish or something that requires more than two or three steps to prepare. Enjoy the process of cooking without being rushed and make the most of presentation with nice dishes and decorations.
Hold a movie marathon. Pick an actor or a movie series that your family or friends enjoy and watch three or more films in a row. Make some popcorn, serve cold drinks and cheer on your hero, enjoy a good cry with sentimental favorites or laugh at horror flicks.
Organize a video game championship. Don’t let your Wii, Kinect, Xbox 360 or other system gather dust. Plan a competition; decide how many games must be won to declare the champion.
Update your social media sites. Spend the afternoon loading new photos, updating your status, adding new links and favorites and posting comments on your friends’ sites.
Play cards. Turn off your electronic devices, get out an old-fashioned deck of cards and enjoy an evening of classic card games. This low-keyed activity allows you to do something with your fellow players that electronic games often do not – have a heart-to-heart conversation.
Enjoy a night of music. Can you play an instrument but never take the time anymore? Is your iPod or other music player full of outdated songs and you keep meaning to add new ones? Do it tonight.
