The Super Bowl is the biggest moment in sports. It’s a day when the greatest athletes in the world battle on an international stage. People fly from all over the world to go to the Super Bowl, and those who can’t afford a ticket are likely to take part in a Super Bowl party. Since this is such a major event, it would be cool to know some fun facts about the Super Bowl.
The Packers won the first Super Bowl, defeating the Chiefs 35-10. Vince Lombardi was the coach for the Packers and Hank Stram was the coach for the Chiefs. Bart Starr was the MVP. The Packers also won Super Bowl II, by the way. Once again, Bart Starr was the MVP.
Prior to Super Bowl III, Joe Namath guaranteed a Jets victory despite being a 17-point underdog. The Jets won 16-7 and Namath’s name would become legend.
In Super Bowls XIII and XIII, the Steelers defeated their opponents by scores of 35-31 and 31-19. What surprises you about those scores? These were the Steel Curtain teams yet they gave up 31 and 19 points in those two Super Bowls. Luckily, they had Terry Bradshaw, who won the MVP in both games.
Speaking of Super Bowl MVPs, do you know who has won the most of them? If you guessed Joe Montana, then you’re correct. He won three Super Bowl MVPs with the 49’ers. He also defeated three different teams in those Super Bowls – Bengals, Dolphins and Broncos.
Did you know that Peyton Manning and Eli Manning were back-to-back Super Bowl MVPs? Peyton won it in 2007 and Eli won it in 2008.
Just in case you weren’t already aware, the Buffalo Bills were the only team to lose four consecutive Super Bowls. They lost to the Giants and Redskins one time each and to the Cowboys twice.
